Project Lead — French College Admissions

Leading an end-to-end quantitative evaluation of policy changes for Parcoursup, France’s national college-admissions platform.

  • Prepared and joined 2024 administrative records with SQL and Pandas, covering 886K applicants and 21K programs.
  • Estimated a multinomial-logit model of applicant preferences and ran 1,000 full-market counterfactual simulations.
  • Designed an allocation algorithm that reduced fairness violations from 19.7% to 0.1% and raised scholarship-target compliance from 68.2% to 87.8%, while preserving enrollment and completion speed.
  • Translated results into implementable recommendations with economists, computer scientists, and policy researchers.

Developed and evaluated machine-learning and allocation methods with researchers from Inria, CREST, Criteo, ENSAE, and École Polytechnique.

  • Built an evaluation framework connecting ridge-regression accuracy to consumer capture, advertiser value, retailer lift, and data-sharing incentives.
  • Co-developed Efficient Newton Unlearning, reusing a global Hessian to reduce per-client computation to O(d²) with certified removal guarantees.
  • Introduced Resource-Regional Caps and designed six polynomial-time matching mechanisms with provable stability, fairness, efficiency, and incentive properties.
